FACE TO FACE WITH WILLIAM RAFFAELE, THE WINNER OF THIS YEAR’S “C & C CHALLENGE” EDITION

01.02.2017

William, could you tell us about your background? When did you decide to become a hair stylist?
It wasn’t a specific moment in my life: I’ve always been fascinated by this world and little by little I got closer to it. This passion was handed down from my father who ‘s always been in the sector of hair & beauty. I started when I was a boy: after school I helped him at work and I worked very hard to learn from the Master the basics of this job and then, I continued to get more experience in different other hair salons.
I understood that I was starting out on my career. The crucial part of my life happened seven years ago when I opened my hair salon at Borgomanero: “Diamoci un taglio by William”. That was a real challenge, a winning choice! I created a staff that throughout the time has developed a strong team spirit thanks to the passion and creativity I’ve been trying to convey and I’m really happy with the target we have achieved together.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love enhance clients making them unique from hair cut and color through a hair set or shaving. Transforming them and making them feel proud of their aspect gives me great satisfaction.

Tell us about your experience in Barcelona. Where does the look for which you won the title of “Color & Creative Ambassador 2016”come from and what was your inspiration for it?
Barcelona is a dream which came true: it happened by accident when my trusted retailer, Enrico Signorelli, suggested me to participate in this significant event. I immediately had a clear idea of what I would create, I had only to get down to work. I was inspired by my love and attraction for geometrical and angular shapes- through colors I express myself and embrace new challenges.

What are your goals for the future?
By nature, I can’t stop because the targets I achieve are never a point of arrival but only a point of departure. So far, I have so many ideas and want to do a lot: my target is keep on growing!

What would you say to young people who want to start this career?
Passion is the major requirement. You must have passion to work in this sector, because this career is hard and long and involves sacrifice. It is necessary to be a good observer, all that is around us could be an inspirational source of creativity. If you want to make any single creation unique listen to yourself and put into practice what you have inside yourself.
